5G Network in India is perhaps the most important advancement within the mobile connectivity spectrum thus far. 5G technology in India is expected to be the game-changer in the field of telecommunication & connectivity and solve the network problem among mobile users.
The technology has already begun to be implemented globally in 2019. Reports published by the GSM Association said that 5G technology is expected to have a global user base of 1.7 billion by 2025.
India is not so far in building the 5G connectivity. All the major telecom players i.e. Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone are in horde to be the first ones to be able to provide a 5G network in India.
What is 5G connectivity?
Before we enter the most discussion, let’s first begin by understanding what exactly is 5G connectivity.
As the name suggests, 5G may be a fifth-generation technology standard for broadband cellular services and it’s the successor of the 4G technology (currently getting used by most telephones for connectivity).
The main advantage of 5G over 4G is that the fact, it’s got a better bandwidth which will give offer higher download speeds.
Because of the upper bandwidth speed, it’s believed that the network won’t only serve cellphones but also will be used as general internet service providers for Laptops and Desktops.
5G data at its peak can provide a download speed of 20 Mbps. To put it into perspective, by using the 5G network, a full high definition (HD) movie is often downloaded within a moment even during a crowded stadium.
4G over 5G
Markets including China, the US, and South Korea have already made a shift to 5G technologies. However, India hasn’t seen its real deployments thus far.
According to the recent test done by Ookla Global Index, India lags even behind Nepal and Pakistan in terms of mobile Internet speed. The country is claimed to possess a mean download speed on mobile devices of 11.46 Mbps that brings it to 128th position globally.
In contrast, Nepal is reported to be within the 127th rank with a mean mobile download speed of 12.06Mbps, and Pakistan is claimed to be within the 117th position with an average speed of 14.85Mbps.
5G Network in India: What can be expected?
India is slowly but surely becoming the town while talking about the adoption of the new and latest technologies. And India is usually known for embracing new technologies. And being the 2nd biggest global player within the usage of telecom, the introduction of 5G technology in India is inevitable.
But, it remains to be seen how soon. If the reports are to be believed, Jio might be the primary network service provider to supply 5G telecom services in India.
Final Thoughts on 5g network in india:
Airtel, Jio, and VI recently submitted their applications for participation in 5G trials in India. These operators also are working with equipment manufacturers like Ericsson, Huawei, and Samsung for a few time to know the market dynamics of the next-generation wireless technology.
Nonetheless, the present scenario considers that it could be Jio that would emerge as an early 5G network in the country.
